PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY AND ART IN ACTION

Having attended sessions at Sprotbrough Library since January 2013, I can thoroughly recommend this course.  It is provided through the School of Economic Science, an educational charity based in Oxfordshire.  Its primary object is to promote the study of natural laws governing relations in human society and the real concern of philosophy is to find and understand universal principles that are the common ground of all human understanding.

The course encourages the free sharing of the practical experiences of course members without being dogmatic or domineering.  I have found it a very enjoyable way of exploring life and how it might be lived for the betterment of all.

One of the ways in which the School promotes its work is by holding an ART IN ACTION festival at its HQ, Waterperry House and Gardens, near Oxford, in July each year.  This is now the leading art and craft festival of its kind in the UK and visitors are able to take part in many of the crafts on display, which are in turn demonstrated for the instruction and entertainment of its 25,000+ visitors each year.  My husband, Mick, and I attended for two days this year and only just had time to see all that was on offer whilst actually participating in very little.  The provisional dates for 2016 are 14-17 July and we expect to return.
